A crossroad had been reached in Cyprus and despite what is happening around the world, regardless of religion, language and race, it is possible to establish a joint federal state in Cyprus, through the spirit of cooperation, President Mustafa Akinci has said.
Delivering a speech at the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit in Istanbul, President Akinci noted that the Cyprus problem had been continuing for 50 years and said if both sides were equally committed to finding a solution, then this could be possible.
“If the road towards a solution is not chosen then it must be foreseen that a new road will be taken”, he said, adding that the solution to be found for Cyprus will be a win-win formula for all.
“We as the Turkish Cypriot side, are working with belief that we will establish a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation based on political equality,” said the President.
After the speeches, the President moved across to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ promotional stand.
The TRNC’s natural surroundings, history and local cuisine were being promoted at the stand which was set up by the Istanbul Consulate General in cooperation with the Presidency and the Tourism Ministry.
