Prime minister and UBP (National Unity Party) chairman Irsen Kucuk has outlined the most recent developments for the Turkey water pipeline project.
During a dinner reception at the Merit Crystal Cove hotel in Kyrenia, the PM disclosed that he had reached common ground with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan to transfer 200 megawatts of electricity along with the water to be piped to North Cyprus.
PM Kucuk also disclosed that on the 13th October he will be visiting Anamur (most southerly point in Turkey) in the Mersin District. The purpose of the visit will be to attend the foundation laying ceremony for the pipeline.
The TRNC has been dogged with electricity shortages since its inception and it is hoped that the move will curb the state’s energy shortfall.
