Water from Turkey scheduled to arrive on 20th July

Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Hakan Dincyurek said that weather conditions permitting, they aimed to begin pumping water from Turkey to the island on 20th July, which is an important date for Turkish Cypriots. [The day of the 1974 Turkish Peace Keeping Mission]

Speaking in a television interview, he said that the 75 million cubic metres of water which will be transferred annually, is not only potable but would also be used for agriculture as well.

Dincyurek thanked Turkish officials who were involved with the ‘Project of the Century’ and said that this would bring new life to the Turkish Cypriots.
