Ersan Saner, Minister of Public works and Transport has said that all investments in Ercan airport will be received within four years and that after completion, the TRNC will have a modern airport at a total cost of 350 million Euros.
Mr Saner, evaluating the work of his ministry in 2012, discussed projects planned for 2013. He said that the target for 2013 on the issue of the highways was to have all areas in the North accessible by road. He noted that the larger proportion of the budget of his ministry will be spent on road building.
Referring to the 350 million Euro investment in Ercan airport, Saner noted that 100 million Euros of this money have already been paid to the TRNC and the remaining 250 million Euros will be paid in four years. He noted that the company that won the tender would be submitting its working plan to the government within 20 days after the handover ceremony. He added that on completion, Ercan will have better technical equipment than airports in the South and that the airport will offer much improved services in the field of aviation.
