UN says there is progress on Cyprus talks

There has been a great deal of hard work and good progress on the formulation of a joint statement, says a statement issued by the UN Secretary-General Good Offices Mission.

The statement continues that there still remains some work to do but “we are cautiously optimistic that the declaration can be agreed in the days ahead”.

It also adds that the Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus, Alexander Downer left Cyprus last night following a 24 hour extension of his latest visit to Cyprus.
