Turkish Prime Minister, Erdogan, in an address to the nation on TV yesterday, has pointed out that the Turkey to TRNC pipeline project was scheduled to be completed in March 2014. He said that most of the infrastructure work was completed, including the building of dams in both countries.
At the end of this project, 75 million cubic meters of water will be transported annually. This will exceed any projected demand for drinking and irrigation water. In addition electricity will also be carried along the pipeline and the Prime Minister said that the TRNC would be able to export excess electricity.
As part of a project to reduce dependence on external energy supplies, Turkey was building two nuclear power plants, Mr Erdogan added.
