Two high ranking army doctors have been named in newspapers as working in private hospitals, using aliases to hide their identities.
Colonel Ali Avcil and Colonel Ismail Sertin, work in private hospitals in and around Kyrenia. There they have performed surgery, examined patients and written prescriptions using other doctors’ names.
All of these activities are illegal because the requirements to practice in the TRNC require that doctors must be TRNC citizens and have passed the requirements of the TRNC Medical Association.
Neither of these two doctors meets these criteria and are also working without work permits or paying taxes.
The Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Labour have all been notified by the TRNC newspaper that carried out the investigation.
There has not yet been any response to the allegations or evidence produced.
