President Mustafa Akıncı and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met for ninety minutes. They then went on to hold a meeting with the heads of the all the political parties represented at the assembly.
The meeting, which started at 3pm at the presidency, comprised President Akıncı and Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu as well as CTP President and Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman , UBP President Hüseyin Özgürgün , HP Chairperson, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay , TDP Chairman, Culture Minister Cemal Özyiğit, DP Chairman and Finance Minister Serdar Denktaş and YDP Chairman Erhan Arıklı attended.
President Mustafa Akıncı made a statement through his social media website after the meetings.
In his statement the President said: “We, together with the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, held a tete a tete meeting the way we always do when he is visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and then we held a comprehensive meeting with the government and political party leaders that are represented at the parliament.”
“We exchanged views and evaluated the latest developments that are taking place on the island. We will continue to hold similar meetings in the future”, said the President in his statement.
No details of the discussion were given after the meetings.
