Turkey scrambles two F-16’s from Incirlik

According to Greek Cypriot press sources, Ankara scrambled two jets from the Incirlik base, in south-eastern Turkey, in response to claims that two RAF Typhoons crossed in to airspace controlled by Turkish forces in North Cyprus.

It was alleged that two RAF jets flew over the airspace above North Cyprus, which the British Ministry of Defence denied.

A Spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence has said that two RAF jets were legally flying in international airspace and that no deterrence operation was required.
