Turkey To Begin Drilling in E. Med in 2018

Turkey’s Energy Minister Berat Albayrak, has said that Turkey would begin its first deep water drilling operations with a Turkish flag ship in 2018.

Albayrak was addressing the Turkish Nation Assembly (TBMM) during the budget discussions. He referred, inter alia, to the drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, saying that Turkey will have a profound affect on the energy policies in the region.

The energy minister added that Ankara would conduct drilling activities with a new seismic survey vessel, which is due to be placed on the country’s inventory by the end of the year, as part of natural gas and oil exploration activities in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
