Today is World Children’s Rights Day.
The day was first established in 1989 with the unanimous adoption of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly.
The Convention recognises the civil, economic, social and cultural rights of all children.
The Minister of Labour and Social Security Hamza Ersan Saner who issued a message on the day said that children had the right to enjoy all benefits of life, including health and education.
He said that it was their fundamental duty and responsibility to ensure that children in society grew up in a family environment and were prevented from getting involved or harmed by criminal activities.
