Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that after long struggles at the negotiating table, it has been impossible to find a solution to the Cyprus problem within the parameters of the United Nations’ goodwill mission.
He said that Turkey would continue efforts to contribute to a settlement of the Cyprus problem within different parameters. “We expect the same attitude from all parties concerned”, Erdogan said.
“Obviously, we are deeply saddened by the result,” he said and added that “there is no point in insisting on these parameters anymore”.
It was time to consider ‘Plan B’ or ‘Plan C’, he said. “Of course we will make the necessary evaluations on this matter, and we will share [our thoughts] with the public and our partners”, the Turkish President concluded.
