The mayor of Taskent village has said that the local monastery is in desperate need of restoration.
Tourists and visitors to the monastery have criticised its neglected condition. The mayor said that the building had been used as a stable and now animal waste, bottles and other refuse has been cleaned up. However, graffiti remains on the wall and parts of the building are ready to collapse.
Village mayor Durmus Asandir says that if nothing is done to restore the monastery, the whole building will collapse within the next ten years.
