An elderly Swedish national fell to his death from the top of St. Hilarion Castle. His wife noticed that he was missing as she rejoined other tourists returning to their coach in the early hours of Monday afternoon.
A search was made by police and a fire crew around the top of the castle but he was not found. The Civil Defence organisation deployed a drone to search around the slopes of the castle. Eventually his body was discovered on the northern slope, 150 metres below.
It is believed that he may have lost his balance while walking around and fallen down the steep sides of the mountain.
The man was named as Olsson Hans Goran aged 75. Investigations into the accident continue.
