Violent winds gusting up to 50 mph battered the coast and inland. Driving rain caused trees to flail wildly, roofs lost their tiles and mud and stones were washed down from the mountains. Ferry crossings were cancelled.
On the Lapta walkway, a new snack hut intended to serve passers by was hurled across the rocks, ending up lying on its side.
Hopefully, we will be getting another one to replace the rather sad looking casualty left there today.
