Speaking to a number of German church group representatives, president Eroglu highlighted that he felt there was no interest from the South in pursuing an agreement between the two sides. He stressed that the TRNC gives free access to Greek Cypriots who wish to worship at churches in the North of the island.
He went on to say that he felt the TRNC was being treated unjustly and that [the TRNC] did not deserve the various travel and economic embargoes that it is subjected to.
Speaking of the negotiations between the two governments, Eroglu said that the Turkish Cypriot side was behind a solution and promoted this when the Annan Plan was conceived. He went on to say that he felt an agreement had not been made due to strong resistance from the Republic of Cyprus government.
