The Cyprus Turkish Teachers’ Union (KTÖS) announced that it will hold a three-hour warning strike in five primary schools tomorrow due to the short supply of teachers.
The schools where there will be a strike between 08.00 and 11.00 in the morning will be: Dipkarpaz Primary School, Alasya Primary School, Şehit Tuncer Primary School, Şehit Zeki Salih Primary School and Güvercinlik Rauf Raif Denktaş Primary School.
“We are at the end of patience and tolerance. If the teaching vacancies are not filled, further schools will be added to the strike as of Wednesday”, the teachers’ union warned.
KTÖS Deputy Secretary Akgün Kaçmaz said that the inability of governments to control the population entering the country, to plan education and health is the main reason for lack of teachers.
