Both Cypriot presidents will meet on Monday evening to watch a play together, in a continuing effort to maintain a positive atmosphere in the Cyprus talks.
According to South Cyprus government spokesman Nicos Chrisodoulides, Presidents Anastasiades and Akinci will meet at the door of Rialto Theatre in Limassol and go inside together to watch a play by Turkish Cypriot writer Faize Özdemirciler.
Top Turkish Cypriot actor Yasar Ersoy will be on stage in a play called “Cyprus: Saddened in Greek, wounded in Turkish”. Although it pulls no punches in its commentary on past crimes, the work itself give a message of hope and optimism for the future.
Both leaders met with UN special envoy Espen Barth Eide on Thursday, as he announced confidence building measures (CBM) agreed by the two sides.
While people on both sides can expect to see more similar cultural events, the two leaders emphasised that solution will be difficult but can only be achieved in a positive climate.
