President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot President Mustafa Akıncı are meeting for a fourth time on Monday to begin substantive negotiations.
Three chapters should be on the agenda namely governance, property and the framework for territorial settlement, South Cyprus government spokesman Nicos Christodoulides has said.
The UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide arrived on the island last night to attend today’s meeting.
Eide will also chair the negotiators’ meetings which will follow the leaders’ meeting.
In a statement after both presidents had met on 17th June, Eide said that they have “tasked their negotiators to focus their work on a specific set of core issues across chapters. They will work intensively on this task and report back to the next leaders’ meeting to be held on 29th June 2015.”
Eide will remain on the island until Thursday 2nd July.
