In a hard hitting press briefing yesterday, President Dervis Eroglu said that the government should stop focusing on non- important matters and instead concentrate on issues that are troubling the citizens of the TRNC.
He said that the two sides in the Nicosia Council dispute were further away than ever from agreement and that the government needed to resolve this dispute. Mr Eroglu said that he had information that the Nicosia council workers union BES had contacted the Greek Cypriot administration, to ask for help. He felt that this was the wrong tactic and that the dispute should be settled internally.
