The road leading to the new harbour in Kyrenia is a busy one. Large trucks are constantly arriving to and from the ferry to Turkey.
Residents along the road have long complained about the noise and inconvenience as lorries park along the road, waiting for ferries, restricting access to and from the apartments.
However, yesterday there was a new incident that outraged local residents. As they returned from work they found that their electrical appliances were not working. Police were quickly on the scene and established that twelve apartments in two blocks were affected with many electrical appliances damaged. The police established that the culprit was a large truck parked outside which had hit an electrical pole and broken the electricity lines.
KIB-TEK staff arrived and repaired the lines.
The driver was nowhere to be found and investigations are continuing.
