Population numbers in Cyprus

The ratio of Greek Cypriots to Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus is 3.5>1, according to the former chairman of the State Planning Organisation, Kemal Feridun.

Writing an article for the economic pages of ‘Kibris’, Feridun says that there are a total of 1,126,644 people on the island. Of this number, there are 286,257 Turkish Cypriot citizens making up 25.4% of the population, while there are 840,407 citizens living in the south, making up 74.6% of the population.

According to the latest census published in 2014, there are 313,626 people residing in North Cyprus.
