Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun met with the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide at his office on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Turkish Cypriot side’s red lines on the Cyprus issue, as set out by Ozgurgun, were presented again.
According to Turkish daily ‘Milliyet’, Ozgurgun reiterated that Turkey’s active and effective guarantees in Cyprus are important. He added that the Turkish army should remain on the island.
Stating that the Greek Cypriots are not sincere about the solution issue, Ozgurgun said: “We look at the Greek Cypriots with suspicion”.
It was also reported that Eide asked for support for the new process which began on Tuesday and said that a “Solution is a gain for all sides”.
