The Environment Protection Department, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, is organising a photography competition and exhibition on “Environment” this year as part of the 5 June World Environment Day activities.
According to a written statement made by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, photographers from the TRNC, Buket Özatay, Mustafa Evirgen and Hasan Bağlar will be the first to organise and judge the competition of either black and white or coloured photographs in a single category of “Environment”.
The works of the selection committee will be exhibited at the Lefkoşa Atatürk Cultural Centre Exhibition Hall between 5-8 June.
The Environmental Protection Agency continues to accept the work for the competition and exhibition “Environment” until the end of working hours on Tuesday, May 8.
The photography competition and exhibition will be held on the basis of natural life as effected by the environmental problems in the country. These might be problems caused by drought, solid waste, solid waste recycling, quarries, climate change, noise, water resources, waste water, the sea, agriculture, health, tourism, transportation, urbanism, energy and other issues. The photographs recording these outcomes will be judged on how they explore the issues of environmental problems and also contribute to the art of photography.
