Pegasus airlines is the preferred carrier of Turkish Cypriots flying to North Cyprus. This preference has become even more pronounced since the bankruptcy of Cyprus Turkish Airlines and the recent withdrawal of Atlas flights from the UK.
Turkish Cypriots, particularly those living in the UK were outraged to find that a Pegasus Plus campaign which allows for a 20% discount in ticket prices, excluded flights to North Cyprus. In fact a new discount campaign to run from 1st January 2013 to 31st march 2013 covers all international and Turkish domestic flights….except for North Cyprus.
Pegasus Airlines were contacted and produced a robust denial. They pointed out that the purpose of any campaign is to fill empty seats. Flights to and from North Cyprus tend to be full and so were excluded from the discount campaign.
