Ozgurgun to Formally Resign Government

Following the parliamentary early general election held on January 7, political parties are evaluating the results.

The National Unity Party Party (UBP) coalition majority party, which won the election but did not gain enough seats to govern alone, held its first post-election meeting on Thursday.

On the agenda will be the assessment of possible coalition scenarios and negotiations after the swearing-in ceremony of its party leader Huseyin Ozgurgun, to be held on Monday.

In the meantime, Ozgurgun will meet with President Mustafa Akıncı today at 10.30 am.

Prime Minister Ozgurgun will be presenting his government’s resignation in order to allow for the formation of a new government.
