Head of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), Tufan Erhurman has argued that the National Unity Party (UBP) – Democratic Party (DP) coalition government has, fearful of losing the elections, been distributing state land, credit and citizenships in an unfair manner.
Speaking at a CTP committee meeting in Lefke, Erhurman said, inter alia, the following:
“They think that they have registered voters by distributing more than 11,000 citizenships in 18 months. They think that these persons will go and vote for them. Everyone who lives in this country, regardless of their place of birth and national origin, has seen through you by living with you. Those who have rightfully taken citizenship will not become your subjects”.
