Tourism minister Fikri Ataoglu has said that the TRNC will increase its advertisements and promotion activities so that more tourists from Britain will visit North Cyprus.
Speaking while paying a visit to the North Cyprus stand at the World Travel Market, the minister said that he wanted to reach his target as regards tourist numbers.
The fair was being held at the ExCel Centre in London.
Ataoglu also noted that great interest had been seen at the North Cyprus exhibition stand. The UK is a very important market for North Cyprus, he said and promotional activities to increase this market will continue. The target is to create sustainable tourism, said Ataoglu and expressed the belief that this can be achieved this together with all the stakeholders in the field of tourism.
There has been a decline in the British market in the past few years since the closure of Cyprus Turkish Airlines, Ataoglu said and they have responded by making the necessary efforts to reach an adequate number of tourists. Recalling that that they had organised a tourism promotion drive last year in the UK, Ataoglu argued that after this, there had been an increase in the number of tourists from Britain.
Pointing out that such promotion activities will continue within the next few days, Ataoglu said that advertisements will be placed at appropriate locations and that their target is to have a “sustainable number of tourists” from the UK.
