The Turkish Cypriots may have envied the South at one time because it was in the EU and was on its way to prosperity, writes the ‘Daily Mail’, however times have changed. The South faced a rapid decline this year following the banking crisis and the stringent conditions of an EU bailout.
The paper goes on to say that the North is now relieved not to be in the Eurozone; the tourist board’s website emphasising that very point.
Currently, the focus is on attracting walkers who can enjoy fine weather and the beautiful natural environment of North Cyprus between April and November.
