Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades held a joint press conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras yesterday.
Asked if Tsipras had made any suggestions to overcome the deadlock on the talks and whether the two leaders had discussed this issue, Anastasiades said that they were “on the same page” as regards the negotiations and the solution.
He went on to say that he wanted to return to the negotiating table because that was only way to reach a settlement. However the conditions were unfavourable for him to return, he said and added “It is not possible for me to return to the table whilst war ships were at sea”.
Tsipras had also indicated that the exploration work by Turkish seismic vessel ‘Barbaros’ in the South’s EEZ violated international law.
