“Turkish Cypriots are owners of this land much more than you and your community,” the Democratic Party (DP) leader and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktaş told the President of South Cyprus on Friday night.
Speaking at a gathering organised by his party in North Nicosia, Denktaş said that “no one can abolish the TRNC.”
He said pressure for resumption of negotiations would be stepped up after March.
“We exist and will continue to exist even though they do not recognise us,” he said.
The deputy PM also said that the Turkish Cypriot side had withdrawn its signature from the joint declaration of 11 February, 2014.
He said at the same time that there could be a federation between the two states and that no other agreement could be accepted.
