Newly elected Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is in South Nicosia today for two days for talks with President Nicos Anastasiades and political parties leaders.
Tsipras was welcomed at Larnaca Airport by Foreign Minister Kasoulides and then went on to meet President Anastasiades at the presidential palace.
After a welcoming ceremony at the palace and prior to official talks, Tsipras said: “Cyprus is in our hearts and minds and for the new government, Cyprus being our first state visit symbolises our support to your effort of finding a viable solution [to the Cyprus problem]. That Cyprus is the first stop is no accident. Cyprus has always been especially symbolic for Greeks.”
