Plans to build a call centre in the Karpaz region have been announced by Gifa holdings, Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Yeni Bakis’ reports.
According to the newspaper, which is owned by Gifa, the company has investments in call centres in London and Tunisia which employ 850 people. ‘Yeni Bakis’ reports that the Minister of Public Works and Transport Kemal Durus fully supports the project.
Chairman of Gifa Holdings Yusuf Kisa said that the Karpaz is a very important region for the TRNC. He said, “All governments have neglected this region about which the Greek Cypriots have dreamed of adding to their territory since the beginning. As a private enterprise, we are looking to develop the Karpaz, which will add economic value and contribute to the country.”
Kisa anticipates that building a call centre in the region will create employment for 500 people in 2017.
