President Dervis Eroglu met with the newly appointed British High Commissioner in Cyprus Damian Roderick Todd at the presidential palace on Thursday, ‘Vatan’ reports.
According to the paper, Eroglu’s undersecretary Hasan Gungor and his spokesman, Osman Ertug, were also present at the meeting. No statements were made before or after the meeting.
The newly appointed High Commissioner who replaces Mathew Kidd, met with Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades on Monday, ‘Cyprus Mail’ reported.
Addressing President Nicos Anastasiades, Todd said a settlement of the Cyprus problem had been elusive for too long.
”I have already sensed how frustrated Cypriots feel. A settlement is in the interest of Cyprus, neighbouring countries of Cyprus, Europe and the region,” he said, adding that Britain would do what it could to help the process.
