Parliamentary Speaker Sibel Siber announced the opening of the MP hotline yesterday.
Mrs Siber said it was another step in her vision of making the dealings of government transparent and in the service of the people.
Speaking at a press conference, she said that the special 120 line would allow any member of the public to leave a message for any specific MP.
Mrs Siber confirmed that she would stick to her promise of holding frequent press briefings to explain government activity. She felt that parliament belonged to the people and should act on their behalf.
She also reminded the press that meetings with MPs could be arranged on Mondays and Thursdays so that citizens no longer waited for hours to meet MPs. These meetings could be arranged by phone, mobile or email.
Mrs Siber said that she was now working on increasing the amount of live coverage of parliamentary proceedings.
