The Greek Cypriot customs authorities seized around 6,000 fake designer bags and clothing items discovered in a South Cyprus-registered van crossing back to the south.
According to the authorities, the Greek Cypriot driver was stopped on the Larnaca-Ayia Napa motorway on Friday afternoon when customs agents discovered 5,793 clothing items, bags, and beach towels, worth approximately €30,000.
The 49 year-old driver was arrested and the items seized because they violated intellectual property laws and the Green Line Regulation. The man’s vehicle was also seized. He was released after he paid an out of court settlement of €7,500.
