Land Registry Office (Tapu) modernisation

There are major investments being made in bringing the Tapu into the 21st century. Many readers
will be aware of the cramped and inefficient buildings and processes that comprise the Tapu.

The Minister of the Interior, Nazin Cavusoglu, has recently signed a contract to provide a completely
new building for the Tapu. This tender was won by Gercek Construction and it is planned that this
second stage will be completed within four months.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Cavusoglu stated that the new building would provide a much
more efficient and comfortable environment for both customers and employees. He then went on to
thank Turkey for all its help and assistance in the project.

As part of the modernisation project, all land registry records, which are currently paper based, will be
photographed and digitally stored.
