Turkey is hindering the solution to the Cyprus problem, the general secretary of Turkish Cypriot Primary Teachers’ Trade Union (KTOS) has said.

Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Afrika’ reports that Sener Elcil, the general secretary of KTOS also noted that the land and the natural gas that Turkey wants belongs to the Cypriots and wonders what Turkey’s actions would be if oil or natural gas was discovered in Kyrenia.

Elcil said that the Turkish government’s new policy of “New Turkey” that it has begun to follow, as regards the developments in Iraq and Syria, has created a crisis in the region and added that this could also create problems in Cyprus.

In addition, the paper reports that the Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP) accused Turkey of following a “tension policy” in Eastern Mediterranean.
