Sunday saw the 1st race of the 2013 Northern Cyprus Automobile Association Touring Hill Climbing Rally season at Kantara. Unfortunately an accident, involving spectators brought the event to a halt.
Two spectators were injured, one with just grazes and another with a broken arm when they were shunted by one of the rally cars which had lost control entering the bend hitting the roadside. The two spectators and the rally car driver were taken to hospital by ambulance. Apparently the driver was unhurt, but taken for observation.
On a lighter note, this event brings together young drivers from both sides of the Green Line, encouraging Turkish and Greek Cypriot youth to get together.
