The highest inflation figures over the last nine years were reached in the first six months of 2017, Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (TDP) Cemal Özyigit, has said. “Economic indicators show that society is getting poorer day by day. The government should take measures to provide economic relief against rising living costs”, he said.
Özyigit noted that although the cost of living allowance in public sector pay will be reflected in salaries in July, it is not enough, he said, to include only public employees and pensions, and that private sector employees should make decisions to prevent economic pressures in the face of cost of living rises.
In the first six months of 2017 it has been shown that targets in the state’s ‘Medium-Term Economic Programme’ cannot be achieved, he pointed out.
