Mainland Greek Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos says that his Government is ready to meet with the Turkish Cypriot negotiator, based on the 1960 constitution.
Athens News Agency states that in an interview with Turkish daily ‘Sabah’, Venizelos said that “if we do not make the first step, we cannot change the atmosphere”.
Venizelos remarked how significant progress towards a solution to the Cyprus problem would be, calling once again on Ankara to take steps in that direction.
“If we find a final solution, we will open a new horizon”, the Greek Deputy Prime Minister pointed out. He added that establishing a dialogue with Turkey, is Greece’s strategic choice, noting once again that his government supports Turkey’s access to the EU.
