Buyukkonuk near Iskele held its weekly market last weekend. The theme of the market was olives an all forms. Olives, olive oil soaps and foods made from olives were on sale. As too were fresh green olives available by the kilo.
The market at Boyukkonuk, which has a different theme every week, has been organised by the Association of Eco Tourism, with the objective of reviving the village market and introducing both residents and visitors to high quality olive oil products and also to sample other traditional Turkish foods such as pumpkin pie, wheat patties, fruit pasties and pancakes.
Donkey rides kept the children entertained, while visitors had a chance to sample locally made food products and buy hand-crafted goods.
