A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Cyprus Modern Art Museum, founded by the Near East University was held with the participation of President Mustafa Akıncı.
The aim of the museum is to convey the artistic creativity of North Cyprus to the people, to share its cultural identity with the international art scene and to enable society to have access to the arts.
According to a statement made by the Near East University Press and Public Relations Office, the Cyprus Modern Art Museum, will have 14 different galleries covering an area of 20 thousand square meters. Four galleries will hold permanent art collections, two galleries are for temporary exhibitions, two will have photographic exhibitions, and three for sculptures.
There will also be a hall with a capacity for 1,300 people. Additional facilities will be labs, studios and conference rooms to promote and facilitate support for art enthusiasts.
