There was another kind of rain yesterday. This was the flood of food donations that rained down on the animal shelter in Nicosia.
The animal shelter is located in the industrial district of Nicosia and had recently made an appeal for food and supplies. Tomris Guven, head of the TRNC Animal Protection Association, said that he was delighted with the response. Individuals and companies all came forward during the day to make donations.
First to arrive were students from the Near East college, followed by a number of other schools. They were followed by Mehmet Kumser, Director of Skylap Construction. Mr Kumser used the proceeds from his popular book ‘Igneci’ to buy and bring 300 kg of dried dog food. He had donated the proceeds from an earlier publication of the book to the support of Karpas donkeys.
