The “Jeep Renegade Off Road Race”, the fifth and final race of the 2017 KKORD Off Road Championship organised by the Northern Cyprus Off Road Association, is being held this Sunday.
The race, running under the slogan “There is a way out” is mainly sponsored by Kombos Automotive and with the contribution of the Prime Ministry Drug Control Commission and Sports Department.
The race will be held at Kombos Park in Haspolat on Sunday, at 10.00, in a rally sprint format. At the end of the race, there will be an award ceremony which is scheduled for 13.30.
Race Trust Insurance, Bigibox, Enerji FM and Pekur Ltd are also contributing.
Details of the judging were announced at the press conference held on Thursday.
Speaking at the press conference, Kuzey Kıbrıs Off Road Association Chairman Hakan Kofalı thanked those who contributed to the event.
Hasan Karaokçu, President of the Commission on Drug Abuse, said that they are ready to cooperate with all institutions in the fight against substance abuse.
“We no longer want to lose our children, our young people, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, on the roads,” Karaokçu said, urging young people to speed on the racetrack, not on the roads.
Kombos Automotive official Serkan Gür told the press conference that he was pleased to be sponsoring the race.
North Cyprus Automobile Club President Zeki Topcu said the sport plays an important role in keeping youth away from harmful habits.
