Fewer pilgrims visit Hala Sultan mosque for Bayram

Visitor numbers to Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque were fewer than last year according to the Religious Affairs Department.

779 people went to the mosque on Thursday to celebrate Kurban Bayram. Seventeen buses were used for the transfer of the pilgrims to Larnaca.

The department stated that the number of the pilgrims was much smaller compared to previous years because, South Cyprus did not grant permission to visit to settlers of Turkish origin or non-Turks who are resident in the TRNC.

The mosque is said to be the fourth most import Muslim shrine in the world
