Fergun Denizcilik Sirketi provides a regular ferry service between Kyrenia and Tasucu in Turkey.
However the head of the company, Niyazi Guvenir, announced on radio yesterday that this service would now be cancelled. He said that the number of passengers crossing had reduced significantly and that costs have risen significantly, meaning the service is no longer financially viable.
Mr Guvenir went on to say that the Government had put a lot of effort into addressing issues in the aviation sector but have put very little focus on the maritime industry. Other ferry companies are continuing to operate their services on this route.
