President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy is paying a brief visit to Cyprus. He will be meeting with President Anastasiades to discuss the South’s economy and the Cyprus problem.
At 8.30 this morning Rompuy met with President Anastasiades and following on, will hold consultations with delegations from North and South Cyprus.
According to an official announcement, during the meeting they will discuss developments concerning the Cyprus problem, the state of the South’s economy and that of Eurozone members, matters to be discussed at the next EU Summit and other regional issues.
President Anastasiades and Rompuy will the hold a joint press conference after which the EU Council President will visit the University of Cyprus, where he will give a lecture.
At noon, the President Anastasiades will host an official lunch in honour of Rompuy and his wife. After which the European Council President and his delegation will depart from Cyprus in the early afternoon.
