EL-SEN members have been busy all week cutting off electricity supplies to the largest non-payers.
Yesterday their president Caglayan Cesurer, said that this activity would slow down over the weekend but that his members would be out in force on Monday.
Cesurer said that yesterday the focus was on organisations that had promised to start making payments but had failed to do so. These all had their power supplies cut off. The Golden Tulip Hotel in Nicosia owed TL 825,000 and had been cut off. However yesterday morning the hotel made a payment of TL 200,000 and its electricity was reconnected in the afternoon.
Cesurer said that most of the street lighting was now cut off and also pointed out that most speed cameras were no longer operating.
