UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide arrives in Cyprus today.
On Tuesday he will meet with President Anastasiades and on 7th April Eide will be received by President Eroglu.
He will be meeting with leaders and negotiators until 8th April.
According to a UN statement, Eide is coming to the island to follow up on the encouraging signs received during his last trip to the island regarding a possible resumption of the negotiations.
Eide will meet bilaterally with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders to continue discussions on prospects for the resumption of talks in the spring.
Together with his Good Offices team, he will also meet bilaterally with the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot negotiators in support of their substantive preparations.
The Special Adviser continues to be optimistic about the prospects for a return to structured, results-oriented negotiations, and looks forward to this visit as an important step towards renewing the momentum in the talks.
